Samurai Shodown is a fighting game developed and published by SNK Corporation. Technically speaking, two games with this name exist, one released in 1993 and the other released in 2019. This article is about the modern one. Samurai Shodown takes place in 18th century Japan, during the Tenmei Era. That was a fairly miserable time for the nation, characterized by famine, widespread riots, and even a volcano eruption. In the game, the situation is made even worse; an evil ghost is plotting to destroy the country. The gameplay of Samurai Shodown is fairly typical for a fighting game. The player is given four basic attacks – three different blows and a kick – but to be effective in combat, they must be chained into combos. However, the game does feature a unique twist. The artificial intelligence responsible for controlling the player’s enemies is capable of learning, and will adapt to counter their tactics. Samurai Shodown can be played on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. A version for arcade cabinets is also available; a Mac version, on the other hand, is not. But it’s still possible to play Samurai Shodown on Mac. To learn how, follow the guide below.
