Outlast 2 is a horror game developed by Red Barrels. A dark, and occasionally grotesque game, it stays true to its prequel. The gameplay has been largely unchanged; you are still expected to either run or hide from your enemies, with no combat options provided. This time, the task has been made even more difficult with the addition of stamina mechanics. To even things out, the developers added new ways for the player to hide – for example, you can now hide underwater.
When it comes to the story, you do not need to worry about having to play the first game, because Outlast 2 features completely new characters and setting. This time, you will take on a role of Blake Langermann, an investigative journalist working together with his wife. This is a pretty dangerous profession, but this time, perhaps you have dug too deep. Researching a bizarre murder of a pregnant woman made a certain cult take an interest in you, and now, your only option is to run for your life.
