Counter-Strike 2 is the newest entry in the Counter-Strike series. It is distributed as a free update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive; the players retain all of their items and rankings from the last game. Though CS:GO is no longer available to play, CS2 is an improvement in pretty much all aspects. Better graphics, overhauled maps, quality-of-life features, and an improved UI do a great job of bringing Counter-Strike up to a modern standard. Some changes affect the gameplay as well; for example, smoke can now be temporarily dispersed by explosions or gunshots. Despite all of these improvements, the system requirements for Counter-Strike 2 have remained relatively modest – even a ten-year old Windows PC should be able to handle it. Mac owners, on the other hand, are out of luck. Unlike its predecessor, Counter-Strike 2 doesn’t have a Mac version. And since Global Offensive servers were shut down, it’s not possible to simply keep playing the previous game, either. The only realistic option is to find a way to play Counter-Strike 2 on Mac.
