Ion Fury is a first-person shooter developed by Voidpoint, LLC and published by 3D Realms. Although the game looks quite old, it’s been released in 2019, and the retro look is merely the game’s chosen aesthetic.
In Ion Fury, you play as Shelly Harrison, codename “Bombshell”, a member of the Global Defense Force. Shelly is facing an entire cult of cybernetically-enhanced soldiers, but she’s up for the challenge. Considering her background and the arsenal of weapons she’s wielding – ranging from a tri-barreled revolver all the way up to grenade launchers and throwable bombs – Shelly’s confidence in herself is not misplaced. Under your control, she will traverse seven different game zones, eventually bringing the fight to Dr. Jadus Heskel himself, the mastermind behind the body modder cult.
But this is not a game that holds your hand. The levels are complex and sprawling, and you will be required to explore to progress. You might even discover a few secret areas. At the same time, you must carefully manage your health, as it will not automatically regenerate.
Ion Fury is available on PC on both Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. To play Ion Fury on Mac, however, you will need to resort to third-party solutions. Read the guide below to learn about the available options.
