The Last Spell is a tactical RPG developed by Ishtar Games. It is set in a fantasy world and contains roguelite mechanics. By the time The Cataclysm occurred, the world has been at war for many decades, and the nations were getting weary and exhausted. Magical warfare, though nothing new to the inhabitants of this world, has taken another – desperate – turn. All restraint, all finesse, all concern for collateral damage was abandoned when massive magical explosions rocked the land, destroying entire cities and poisoning the land around them with a strange, purple mist. Humanity was struggling to survive in this desolate, apocalyptic world it has created. And yet, that was only the beginning of the Cataclysm. Eventually, vile, mutated creatures started to come out at night, besieging the remaining settlements. And humans thus realized that they must do something, or face extinction. Their only hope for salvation was The Last Spell. An ancient ritual that no one has dared to cast before, intended to destroy all magic in the world. It requires several days of uninterrupted casting, however, and there are only a few surviving heroes to protect the mages while they chant.
