Stronghold: Definitive Edition is a real-time strategy game developed and published by FireFly Studios. It is a remake of the original Stronghold game that was developed in 2001. The game is set in the historical setting of medieval England. Not all is well in the kingdom of Albion; the corrupt nobles plot against their king, violent clashes occur on a daily basis, hunger and pestilence are common. You will be tasked with saving this failing nation, defeating treasonous nobles and defending your own strongholds. Alongside warfare, you’ll have to consider your economy; the game features plenty of city-building aspects. The Definitive Edition in particular features improved graphics and soundtrack, ten additional scenarios, and one entirely new campaign. Of course, old campaigns can be played as well. The developers did not remove anything from the game – with one prominent exception. The original Stronghold was available on both Windows and MacOS, but the Definitive Edition is restricted to Windows only. Quite disappointing.
