GUNDAM BREAKER 4 is a hack-n-slash / action game by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Set in the Gundam universe, the game was designed to appease the existing fans of the franchise. There’s enough exposition to ensure new players are not confused, but realistically, this should not be anyone’s introduction to the series. But if you are a Gundam fan… boy, you’re in for a treat. The main focus of GUNDAM BREAKER 4 is on creating your own mecha robots, which this game calls “Gunpla”. Players start the game with a decent amount of items – robot frames, guns, melee weapons, and other detachable parts – which could be combined together to create your own unique Gunpla. Then, this robot can be put to the test against other players or computer-controlled opponents. These fights provide the player with an opportunity to gain new parts by cleanly slicing them off the enemy. Thanks to this intriguing progression system, as well as many seasonal events, GUNDAM BREAKER 4 has the potential to stay interesting for many long hours of gameplay. SMITE 2 is a MOBA game from Titan Forge Games. Much like the first game, it is based on ancient mythology and features a third-person perspective. Its only flaw is that it’s fairly short, but the play time can be extended by completing side quests and collecting outfits. CarX Street is an open-world racing game developed by CarX Technologies, LLC. The game is set in Sunset City, presented as a “paradise for street racers”, thanks to all the convenient ramps, winding roads, and wide highways. But the biggest advantage of Sunset City is the existence of “StreetNET”, a mobile app which organizes races and other competitions (like car battles). The winners earn cash prizes and increase their ranking in the racing league; both of these are needed to gain access to better cars. Avid players of racing games might be already familiar with this game, as it debuted more than two years ago as a mobile exclusive. But the developers gave us a compelling reason to revisit CarX Street now that it released on PC. As such, the overall experience is much more pleasant – though you will have to pay 20 dollars to access it in the first place. Visions of Mana is a Japanese RPG game developed by Square Enix. It continues the long-running Mana series, which is well-known both in Japan and internationally. The game follows a group of people on a pilgrimage to the Tree of Mana, which maintains magical energy of the entire world. And while some people feel that Visions of Mana is too long – the game takes about 40 hours to complete – it does take its time to explore each character, delve into their past, and showcase their growth as a person. Concord is a multiplayer-based first-person shooter developed by Firewalk Studios. More specifically, it is a hero shooter: you will shoot your way through the galaxy as one of the quirky Freegunners. That said, Concord has a decent amount of content even at launch; it has twelve maps and six game modes. All of them are team-based modes, with two teams and five players on each side. Despite this, all of the modes feel distinct and interesting. For example, “Area Control” tasks the teams with capturing and holding a set amount of zones on the map. On the other hand, “Cargo Run” is a mode in which the teams compete to secure a package and deliver it to a pre-determined point. Essentially, it’s an interesting variation of “Capture the Flag”, in which only one flag is available. Then there’s “Trophy Hunt”, which is a variation of team deathmatch. In this mode, killing the players on the other team is not good enough; you will also need to grab their “bounty cards” in order to score. Sins of a Solar Empire II is a strategy game developed by Ironclad Games Corporation. Micromanaging your fleets during combat can make a real difference, and so can unit customization. There are minor factions you can either fight or ally with, and the game even provides peaceful ways to deal with your enemies. One particularly interesting feature is the dynamic galaxy. This means that the structure of the galaxy changes over time, which also changes the tactical situation on the battlefield. So, even though Sins of a Solar Empire II seems easy at first, there’s plenty of depth to entertain even the most seasoned master. Fields of Mistria is a farming sim game developed by NPC Studio. Despite the intense competition in this genre, this game manages to stand out from the rest. For one, Fields of Mistria is very stylish. Its pixelated graphics will remind older players of Game Boy Advance, while the character portraits are done in a style of an old anime. The soundtrack is also quite good, though obviously, people tend to care more about gameplay mechanics. Thankfully, Mistria is full of content. Even in its current Early Access state, the game features farming, animal husbandry, fishing, interior decorating, combat, and tons of locations to explore. The villagers deserve a special mention; the conversations always feel natural, and there is a lot of them. In many farming sims, talking to your neighbors often feels like a daily chore; you either do it for gameplay rewards, or don’t do it at all.
