Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a third-person shooter set in the grim universe of Warhammer 40K. It was developed by Saber Interactive, a video game studio based in Florida, the United States. The game puts you into the massive, armored shoes of Lieutenant Demetrian Titus, a proud member of the Space Marines. These super soldiers act as stalwart defenders of humanity against its numerous enemies. This time, you will face Tyranids – giant bugs driven only by their endless hunger. Though weak individually, Tyranid swarms contain thousands of these bugs. Indeed, Saber Interactive had to develop a special system called Swarm Engine to allow so many enemies to be present at once. The main campaign of the game is quite short, but thankfully, the game also provides PvP and co-op game modes. Thanks to a diverse arsenal of weapons, there’s also some replayability involved. The Casting of Frank Stone is a horror-themed adventure game by Supermassive Games. Set in a gloomy town of Cedar Hills, this game tells a story of several quirky friends exploring an abandoned steel mill during the 1980s. These are needed to flesh out the story and highlight the consequences of your actions. These consequences are the main appeal of The Casting of Frank Stone; it is a highly non-linear game with countless choices to make. Star Trucker is a driving simulator game with an obvious twist. Instead of driving boring, old-fashioned, ground-based trucks, your character will assume control of a space hauler… which look suspiciously like old-fashioned, ground-based trucks. Core Keeper is a top-down sandbox game developed by Pugstorm and published by Fireshine Games. It starts like many other survival sandbox games: with your character stranded in the world, without a single thing to their name. The world, in this case, is a gloomy, dark place filled with endless caverns. At no point will your character see the light of the day, nor will they ascend to the surface. But – despite being entirely subterranean – the world will give you plenty of incentives to explore. The developers implemented many unique biomes, like the Sunken Sea and the Shimmering Frontier. Additionally, you will be able to discover ancient ruins, filled with both treasure and huge mechanical bosses. And when you don’t feel like venturing into the unknown, you can spend the days farming, fishing, decorating the base, and constructing automated machinery. GUNDAM BREAKER 4 is a hack-n-slash / action game by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Set in the Gundam universe, the game was designed to appease the existing fans of the franchise. There’s enough exposition to ensure new players are not confused, but realistically, this should not be anyone’s introduction to the series. But if you are a Gundam fan… boy, you’re in for a treat. The main focus of GUNDAM BREAKER 4 is on creating your own mecha robots, which this game calls “Gunpla”. Players start the game with a decent amount of items – robot frames, guns, melee weapons, and other detachable parts – which could be combined together to create your own unique Gunpla. Then, this robot can be put to the test against other players or computer-controlled opponents. These fights provide the player with an opportunity to gain new parts by cleanly slicing them off the enemy. Thanks to this intriguing progression system, as well as many seasonal events, GUNDAM BREAKER 4 has the potential to stay interesting for many long hours of gameplay. SMITE 2 is a MOBA game from Titan Forge Games. Much like the first game, it is based on ancient mythology and features a third-person perspective. Many of the reviews describe this game as a better Goat Simulator, believe it or not. Its only flaw is that it’s fairly short, but the play time can be extended by completing side quests and collecting outfits. The developers also intend to add more content in the future; this game will only get better as time goes on. So, don’t hesitate, and buy Squirrel with a Gun today! CarX Street is an open-world racing game developed by CarX Technologies, LLC. The game is set in Sunset City, presented as a “paradise for street racers”, thanks to all the convenient ramps, winding roads, and wide highways. But the biggest advantage of Sunset City is the existence of “StreetNET”, a mobile app which organizes races and other competitions (like car battles). The winners earn cash prizes and increase their ranking in the racing league; both of these are needed to gain access to better cars. Avid players of racing games might be already familiar with this game, as it debuted more than two years ago as a mobile exclusive. But the developers gave us a compelling reason to revisit CarX Street now that it released on PC. Unlike the mobile version, which used a free-to-play model, the PC version doesn’t have any microtransactions. As such, the overall experience is much more pleasant – though you will have to pay 20 dollars to access it in the first place. Visions of Mana is a Japanese RPG game developed by Square Enix. It continues the long-running Mana series, which is well-known both in Japan and internationally. The game follows a group of people on a pilgrimage to the Tree of Mana, which maintains magical energy of the entire world. And while some people feel that Visions of Mana is too long – the game takes about 40 hours to complete – it does take its time to explore each character, delve into their past, and showcase their growth as a person. Over the course of the game, you will accumulate special items called Elemental Vessels. When equipped, they provide your party members with special powerful abilities. Concord is a multiplayer-based first-person shooter developed by Firewalk Studios. More specifically, it is a hero shooter: you will shoot your way through the galaxy as one of the quirky Freegunners. Sixteen playable characters are available so far, and it’s highly likely that more will be added in the future. That said, Concord has a decent amount of content even at launch; it has twelve maps and six game modes. All of them are team-based modes, with two teams and five players on each side. Despite this, all of the modes feel distinct and interesting. For example, “Area Control” tasks the teams with capturing and holding a set amount of zones on the map. On the other hand, “Cargo Run” is a mode in which the teams compete to secure a package and deliver it to a pre-determined point. Essentially, it’s an interesting variation of “Capture the Flag”, in which only one flag is available. Then there’s “Trophy Hunt”, which is a variation of team deathmatch. In this mode, killing the players on the other team is not good enough; you will also need to grab their “bounty cards” in order to score.
