S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a first-person shooter with elements of survival horror. Developed by GSC Game World, this is the first game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, followed by Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. The story takes place in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, but the location is quite different from its real-world counterpart. In The Zone – which is how the locals call it – you are in constant danger. You will, of course, encounter deadly radiation, as well as hostile, mutated wildlife and reality-defying anomalies. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is the second game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series known for combining FPS gameplay with survival horror. It has been developed by GSC Game World, a Ukrainian game studio. Though less polished than Call of Pripyat, Clear Sky is still a good game and has several unique game mechanics that make in worth exploring. Chronologically, Clear Sky is the first game in the series; it takes place before Call of Chernobyl. Our protagonist for this game is a mercenary named Scar. Working with a reclusive faction of scientists named Clear Sky, he is tasked with stopping an expedition into the center of The Zone. During the journey, the player may choose to participate in the faction war. You see, in this game, and this game alone, factions actively try to destroy each other. They will attack their enemies’ outposts and defend their own. Although entirely optional after the tutorial level, the warfare mechanic can be quite engaging. The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series is a collection containing all four seasons of the game, as well as the Michonne miniseries. Hellish Quart is a physics-based fighting game developed by Kubold. It is set in the medieval period – specifically, in the 17th century – and is focused on sword fighting. In this regard, it is similar to MORDHAU, but don’t be fooled; these two games are very different. While MORDHAU is a multiplayer game that simulates large battles, Hellish Quart is all about 1v1 duels. Singleplayer is an important part of the game. Even now, in Early Access, the game features 4 different SP modes: Versus AI, Survival, Sparring, and History Buff. A story mode, with cinematic cutscenes, is planned for the full release. Multiplayer support, on the other hand, is currently poor. Although Hellish Quart can be played with your friends over the internet, both you and your friend will need to use Steam Remote Play Together. But don’t forget, this is a physics-based fighting game. What does this mean? To put it simply, the game uses realistic physics when simulating the bodies of both combatants. This means realistic movements, and also realistic damage. But this is still a fighting game: timing, combos, and blocking will be essential to success. MORDHAU is a multiplayer slasher game developed by Triternion. Set during the medieval era, MORDHAU aims to stay realistic and avoid anachronisms; that said, some compromises have been made to ensure that the game is actually fun. Since MORDHAU is a slasher, the game’s primary focus is close combat; the game offers many melee weapons and even the ability to create your own from parts. The fights are visceral and bloody, featuring dismemberment, as well as other gory things that were a part of any medieval battle. As this may be too realistic for some people, the developers offer an option that makes combat less graphic, disabling blood and gore. Brotato is a top-down shooting game developed by Blobfish. Our protagonist, a potato from The Potato World, has crashed on an alien planet. Now he must fend off endless hordes of aliens until the help arrives, utilizing his supernatural ability to use six weapons at once to accomplish this goal. Each gameplay session of Brotato lasts approximately half an hour; this is how long the protagonist must survive to be rescued. Wartales is an open-world RPG developed by Shiro Games, set during the medieval era. Foxhole is an MMO game that aims to provide a semi-realistic war experience to its players. Both sides need to be concerned about their logistics, industry, and intelligence gathering capabilities to succeed. Each vehicle sent into battle must first be produced by a factory, and the ammunition and fuel it consumes must be manufactured as well. This allows the combatants to engage in realistic warfare strategies, such as cutting off the enemies’ supply lines and sabotaging their infrastructure. There’s more to wartime infrastructure than just factories, though, and Foxhole reflects that. Underground storage facilities will prevent the enemy from destroying your side’s ammo dumps with artillery. Railway lines and shipping ports will allow for easier logistics. Trench networks and artillery emplacements will help to defend the front lines. It is not possible for any player to change the course of the war single-handedly. As Foxhole allows thousands of people to play together on a single server, your contribution will likely be small. But that, too, is realistic as war is a massive undertaking. Goat Simulator 3 is the latest game in the Goat Simulator series. Although the first game was largely a physics-based sandbox with plenty of entertaining bugs and glitches, the series has expanded the scope of its games afterwards. In Goat Simulator 3, you are free to roam in an open world based on United States of America. This world is full of quests and interactive elements; you will have the opportunity to participate in a Got Talent contest, launch a nuclear missile, and witness the longest wooden log in all recorded history.
