Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is an action-adventure game developed and published by the British video game development studio Ninja Theory. The game was released worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Windows in August 2017, Xbox One in April 2018, Nintendo Switch in April 2019, and Xbox Series X and Series S in August 2021. The game is set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Norse mythology and Celtic culture. The story follows Senua, a Pict warrior, who embarks on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover. The game is focused on Senua’s point of view, as she embarks on a very personal journey through a hellish underworld made up of Senua’s psychotic manifestations of her reality and mind. The game was conceptualized as “a compelling, adult, fantasy game” and was always supposed to be hinted as taking place in Senua’s mind, but with her mental illness originally less central to the story. However, the team came to see it as an opportunity to raise awareness on psychosis. The game uses everything in its arsenal to perpetuate feelings of dread, anxiety, and fear: camera perspective, light, sound, visuals, combat. There are no scary monsters, no jump scares, none of the traditional horror fare. Instead, it taps into something infinitely more terrifying: human psychology. Unfortunately, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is not natively compatible with macOS. However, there is a possibility of running the game on M Macs using cloud gaming services or compatibility layers like CrossOver or virtualization software like Parallels. These methods may not guarantee optimal performance and may require some technical knowledge to set up.

Starfield is an action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is set in a space-themed environment and is the first new intellectual property developed by Bethesda in 25 years. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 6, 2023. The game begins with players mining resources on the planet of Vectera. During this process, the protagonist discovers a mysterious artifact that triggers a vision. Following this experience, the protagonist is inducted into an organization called Constellation and is sent on a quest to find more of these artifacts. These artifacts make up something called The Unity, the focal point of multiple universes. When complete, The Unity grants its discoverers the ability to travel across parallel universes as Starborn. The player becomes a Starborn thanks to this mission from Constellation, but not without a few twists and turns. The game’s narrative picks up in the back half thanks to some shocking twists, a memorable ending, and an interesting conceit that leads into “New Game Plus” -style replays. Essentially, Starfield’s story never ends as players continue to explore the infinite, even if they make their character act very differently in their fifth run compared to their first. As of now, Starfield has been developed primarily for Windows and console platforms such as Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. There is no native macOS version of the game.
