The Smurfs – Mission Vileaf is a platforming game developed by OSome Studio. Though obviously aimed at the fans of the Smurfs show, it is a fairly decent – and even challenging – platformer in its own right. The evil wizard, Gargamel, has found yet another way to annoy the Smurfs. This time, his plan to harm the blue creatures involves spreading an malicious plant appropriately called Vileaf. It is toxic and harms other plant life around it, but even more concerningly, it has the ability to capture smurfs inside of it. Papa Smurf, the village leader, soon became aware of this threat. He tasked Handy Smurf with making The Smurfizer; this invention allows smurfs to heal poisoned plants, but also to jump higher, to dive, to glide, and to perform other moves useful in a platforming game. Four iconic characters were given a Smurfizer: Chef Smurf, Hefty Smurf, Brainy Smurf, and the Smurfette. Now they must venture into the forest, destroy all Vileaf plants, and put an end to Gargamel’s evil scheme. This game can be played on PS4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. Trepang2 is a fast-paced shooting game developed by Trepang Studios. You play as a genetically modified soldier with no recollection of your past. After escaping a secret laboratory, you are determined to take fight back to your captors, discover your past and the secrets behind your creation. Though you will face heavy resistance, these puny humans are nothing compared to you – but they don’t know it just yet. Use your ability to slow down time to mow down hordes of enemies before they can even react, or slam them into walls with your superhuman strength. You can also turn invisible to get the jump on an unsuspected enemy. Your access to traditional weaponry, on the other hand, is fairly limited: your character cannot carry more than two guns at a time and the ammunition is always scarce too. So you will have to consider which situations merit the use of a gun and which ones would be better dealt with through melee and stealth. Kerbal Space Program 2 is a space simulation game developed by Intercept Games and published by Private Division. Although it is currently in Early Access, the game shows a lot of promise. KSP 2, just like its predecessor, features no story. It’s about what you can do, not why you should do it. You can build rockets out of many component parts. Depending on how you built them, they may be able to explore the further reaches of space… or not. Some of the more questionable designs will not be able to leave the launchpad without exploding horribly… though that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t build them. Sure, making functional rockets is far more challenging, but committing crimes against physics can also be pretty fun. Compared to the first game, Kerbal Space Program 2 features enhanced graphics and user interface, as well as better, more detailed planets. The developers also intend to implement space colonization, interstellar travel, and multiplayer into the game, but those features aren’t ready just yet. Currently, the game can be played on Microsoft Windows, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. As you can see, Mac isn’t on this list; despite this, it is, in fact, possible to play Kerbal Space Program 2 on Mac. Caliber is a free-to-play multiplayer shooter game created by 1C Game Studios, a Russian software development company. In this game, you play as a member of special forces fighting in a team of four; each person in a team has a specific role. There are four such roles to choose from: Assault, who is the team’s scout and flanker, Support, who deals heavy damage and acts as a bullet sponge, Medic, who must heal and revive his teammates, and Marksman, whose role is to pick off dangerous enemies from afar. BattleBit Remastered is a multiplayer shooter game focused on large battles; it was developed and published by SgtOkiDoki. Though BattleBit is not quite an MMO, its servers can support up to 254 simultaneous players; this results in a fairly intense and action-packed gameplay. Crab Champions is a rather unusual shooter in which you play – you know it – as a crab. Fairly regular crab, too; you do not spit venom or shoot chitin. Defying all laws of sense and logic, your mode of attack is a gun held in your claw. So as you may have guessed, if you’re looking for a realistic simulator of crab life, this game is not for you. No, this is a looter shooter with a crustacean aesthetic. The environments are made to match; the game’s maps are mainly islands, beaches, and shores. Your objective in each run is to survive a select number of enemy waves. Although this goal never changes, you will not get bored of it instantly; the weapons you are able to obtain, as well the enemies you have to face are randomly selected at the beginning of each game. You are also able to play in co-op mode with up to three of your friends, and in endless mode, which disables the victory condition and challenges you to survive as long as you can. Currently, the game is available only on PC, though this may change in the future as it is still in Early Access. Halls of Torment is a roguelike bullet heaven game developed and published by Chasing Carrots, a German game studio. With a retro art style, top-down perspective, and a dark fantasy setting, Halls of Torment looks quite similar to older Diablo games – intentionally so. The goal of the game is simply to survive, though it can be beaten if you last long enough to face a boss. To dispatch massive hordes of enemies, you will be given many powerful items and abilities, though not all of them will be available to a novice player. The same goes for characters; there are seven character classes in the game, but only one is available from the beginning.
