Mech Arena: Robot Showdown by Plarium Global, Ltd. is a multiplayer mech fighting game available on iOS and Android. It is often compared to War Robots as the two games have basically the same gameplay premise. But even though the basic premise is the same, Mech Arena does things very differently. It is considered significantly less pay-to-win, for one.
Three distinct game modes are present in Mech Arena – “Control Point Clashes”, 5v5 deathmatch, and 2v2 deathmatch. Unlike in War Robots, no modes allow people to play solo, as the developers want teamwork to be a core part of gameplay.
When it comes to mech variety, Mech Arena does not offer the same variety of mechs and weapons that War Robots does (though it still offers quite a few). However, options available to Mech Arena players are generally well-balanced, without overpowered combinations like in War Robots. Mech Arena’s mechs also have special abilities like energy shields and jump jets – a feature entirely absent from War Robots. Mech Arena also offers better map variety – there are 25 maps to play on, compared to War Robots’ 12.
