Eximius: Seize the Frontline is a squad-based game that combines FPS and RTS genres. As these games have very different gameplay, it can be difficult to mix them together. But Eximius is a multiplayer game, and have managed to bypass the issue thanks to that.
You see, in Eximius, two teams of five players fight against each other. Each team has one Commander and four Officers. The Commander is the RTS player of the team, responsible for constructing a base, gathering resources, researching technologies, and training units; all very typical RTS stuff. They can engage in the FPS portion of the game as well, though it is generally a bad idea for a Commander to split their attention like that.
Officers, meanwhile, are the FPS players. But note that they’re called Officers, not Soldiers. Although they do plenty of shooting themselves, Officers are leaders, and can give commands to computer-controlled infantry in their squad. This is the same infantry that the Commander needs to train, so the RTS layer of the game is tied into the FPS layer in a very direct manner.
Officially, this game can be played only on Microsoft Windows computers. But you can play Eximius: Seize the Frontline on Mac as well, if you’re willing to use unofficial solutions. The guide below will tell you more about these.
